Swan Lake Trail – Grundy Lake Provincial Park

Experience a heron’s eye view of the wetlands from the boardwalk on the Swan Lake Trail in Grundy Lake Provincial Park.  This self-guided trail crosses a variety of habitats including Jack pine barrens, bogs that are home to insect-eating plants and marshes, where you may spot the rare Blanding’s turtle or a moose munching on water lilies.  Walk the trail and discover the many species that inhabit this ecological gem.

During the summer months, join a knowledgeable park naturalist on a guided hike on the Swan Lake trail.

Trail– 1.5 km (1 hr) loop •  Access from main road, across from Group Camping #1 Area

Species at Risk in the Spotlight

Known as the smiling turtle, Blanding’s are found in the wetlands and small lakes in this area. They are easily identified with their bright yellow throat and helmet-like shell. Please report your sightings of this threatened species– Ontario Reptile and Amphibian Atlas
